Cartoonist Lynn Johnston at Library of Congress

Opening Reception: ‘Line of Sight’
Waverly Street Gallery, 4600 East-West Highway in Bethesda, Maryland, will host a free opening reception for “Line of Sight,” a joint exhibition of artwork by Jennifer Coffin and Rebecca Anderson, on Friday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. Using foraged and found organic matter, Coffin’s ceramic works present the detail, texture and immediacy of form experienced in entering a landscape. Violinist at Embassy of Romania
Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu, who has appeared with the Boston Pops, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Transvaal Philharmonic, the Romanian National Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Radio Flamande, among other ensembles, will perform on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Embassy of Romania, 1607 23rd St. NW. Woodblock Printmaking Workshop

Apollo Orchestra at Visitation Prep

Tenley Art All Night 2019
The annual Art All Night festival celebrates the visual and performing arts, showcasing the diverse talents of the city’s creative community. On Saturday, Sept. 14, from 7 p.m. to midnight, public and private spaces along Wisconsin Avenue from Nebraska to Chesapeake Street (and along Albermarle Street and River Road) will transform into free pop-up galleries and performance stages, with more than 200 artists and performers at 19 venues. Oliver Lee Jackson at the National Gallery
A conversation between American painter, printmaker and sculptor Oliver Lee Jackson and Harry Cooper, senior curator and head of modern art at the National Gallery of Art, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. in the gallery’s East Building Auditorium, 4th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW (the exhibition “Oliver Lee Jackson: Recent Paintings” closes that day). Jackson’s often large-scale paintings blend figural elements of bodies pointing, kneeling, drawing and playing instruments with colorful abstract compositions and vigorously worked surfaces. Woolly: Fully Open!
