•After more than a year of living through a pandemic, members, supporters and friends of the Citizens Association of Georgetown gathered at the historic N Street home of Diana Prince to say hello, “Love Where We Live” and salute the group’s biggest donors.
As she thanked Prince for hosting the festive Oct. 21 fundraiser, CAG President Tara Sakraida Parker told the party-goers: “We are here tonight to recognize and honor two of CAG’s most influential members, Beverly and Michael Sullivan. Due to the Sullivans’ transformational gift of $1,000,000, CAG was able to purchase its first-ever permanent home in its 148-year history. For those of you who have not yet visited, CAG’s headquarters is now located in a beautiful and historic townhome situated along the storied C&O canal on 30th Street. Thank you, Jamie Peva of Washington Fine Properties, for helping us find such a gem in Georgetown!”
“The theme of tonight’s celebration is ‘Love Where We Live,’ ” Parker continued. “The Sullivans loved Georgetown and chose to leave a legacy with the Citizens Association of Georgetown because of the important work we do and the impact we have on our community. We’ve had a remarkable year, and our accomplishments are many, including removing the crane at the dilapidated 3000 M Street site, halting installation of porous flexible pavement on our brick sidewalks and testifying on the ‘Reopen DC’ liquor licensing bill related to taverns in Georgetown.”
“There is no place like home and there is no place like this village we call Georgetown,” Parker concluded.
The Oct. 21 tribute raised more than $100,000 for CAG and is likely a record one-time fundraiser for the neighborhood nonprofit.
CAG’s next event is this Saturday, Oct. 30, 3 to 5 p.m. — a Georgetown Halloween Celebration — at Jackson Art Center, 3050 R St. NW. The group plans “a fun-filled afternoon of tricks and treats, including games, arts and crafts, food trucks and spooky stories! Come out for the kid’s costume parade, dog costume contest with prizes, magic show and other family-friendly activities. Everyone is welcome!”
