Friday is Grateful Dead Day with the Nats
Celebrate the Grateful Dead on frontman Jerry Garcia birthday with a game at Nationals Park versus the Milwaukee Brewers. There will be a Grateful Dead-themed Nats jersey with a special ticket purchase, and access to a pre-game performance by Andrew Weiss and Friends. Check Out the African Diaspora International Film Festival

This weekend, don’t miss a partnership with Africa World Now Project and George Washington University: The African Diaspora International Film Festival. The festival opens with selections like “Brides” and “Village Keeper.” The closing night program features a catered reception and screening with director Jayan Cherian and his most recent film “Rhythm of Dammam” with a Q&A afterward. Shark Week Returns to The Wharf
Head to the Transit Pier at The Wharf for “Shark Bites & Brews” this Saturday from 5-8 p.m. Try your hand riding Bruce, the mechanical shark, or play shark-themed games like Pin the Fin on the Shark. Washington Printmakers Gallery Continues Its 40th Anniversary with A Special Event
The Washington Printmakers Gallery is hosting a reception and awards ceremony this Saturday at 2 p.m. in honor of the 2025 Peggy Doole Competition and Exhibition “National Small Works.” The event includes selected works from over 120 artists and represents artists from 22 states, including Washington, D.C. The National Museum of Women in the Arts Hosts a Free Community Day

The National Museum of Women in the Arts will be enriching its twice monthly Free Community Day with a conversation about book arts and intersectional feminist art-making collaborations. The event, which will be Sunday from 3-4 p.m., will be centered on the exhibit “A Radical Alteration: Women’s Studio Workshop as a Sustainable Model for Artmaking” and will feature curator and writer Maymanah Farhat and Natalie Renganeschi. Calling All Pups!
The Stacks, a waterfront neighborhood project, is hosting a free “Pup Meet Up” this Friday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. in its community park space. There will be a treat bar, live music and giveaways. Attendees who register and go to the event will be automatically entered to win a monthly gift card to a local Buzzard Point area restaurant or business. Five New Galleries Open at the National Air and Space Museum

Beat the summer heat and visit the National Air and Space Museum this weekend for five new exhibits, the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater and the museum’s redesigned entrance, which all opened July 28. There will be thousands of artifacts that include items like the Spirit of St. Louis, John Glenn’s Mercury Friendship 7 capsule, touchable moon rock and more. More information can be found here.
