Weekend Roundup: D.C. Lights Up with Art All Night

Now that we’re well into September, lots of events are happening all around the city. Art All Night is this weekend, and WalkingTown DC starts Saturday, just to name a few. Be safe, have a happy weekend and enjoy!
Check Out Arts Alive! 2025 at Hylton Performing Arts Center
Arts Alive! Is an annual arts festival that is family-friendly and features activities for all ages. There will be multiple stages for performances, food and craft vendors and other community performers and artists. Prince William County Arts Council members will be on hand. Drawing for Art is at the Mansion at Strathmore Through Wednesday
Now through September 17, visit the Mansion at Strathmore to see works on view in their galleries. Then, on Wednesday evening grab a ticket to a special night where every ticketholder goes home with an original work created by a professional artist. Washington Concert Opera Presents ‘Opera Outside’
Tomorrow evening at 6 p.m., visit Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park upper field for Washington Concert Opera’s presentation of ‘Opera Outside.’ The outdoor casual concert will feature opera classics and musical theater favorites and is free and open to all. Blankets, lawn chairs and pets are welcome. More information can be found here.
Starting Saturday: WalkingTown DC

Beginning Saturday and running through the following Saturday, September 20, partake in WalkingTown DC, a public tour program featuring guided walking tours throughout the city. Eight days and eight wards will be explored with over 50 walking and biking tours. More information can be found here.
Get Your Rest for DC Art All Night
Friday and Saturday, bring a friend (or a few!) and stay out to experience Art All Night, which will occur from 7 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. the next morning. All eight wards will be showcasing visual and performing arts exhibits. Georgetown Main Street is inviting residents and visitors to come check out Georgetown’s exhibits Friday from 5:30-10:30 p.m. Read more about the community’s offerings here, and check out more about DC Art All Night here.
Putt in the Park at CityCenterDC
Part of CityCenterDC’s fall offerings, with support from the Deputy Mayor’s Office of Planning and Economic Development and the DowntownDC BID, guests are welcome to visit “Putt in the Park,” which opened Monday. All ages are welcome to practice their putting and have some friendly competition with friends and strangers who become new friends. The custom-designed course includes six holes. The National Mall is Hosting a Thai Festival Saturday
Head down to the National Mall Saturday for Sawasdee DC Thai Festival from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be cultural performances, a taste of Thailand’s street food scene and lots of cooking demos with celebrity chefs like Max Wittaway and Bas Anurat. Visit Mount Vernon’s Colonial Market and Fair

Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., visit Mount Vernon for their annual Colonial Market and Fair. Go back in time to an 18-century marketplace, checking out artisan offerings and play games from the colonial era. There will also be live music and a traditional puppet show. The Stacks Hosts Hosts a Maker Market and Brewfest
Saturday, visit The Stacks at 101 V St. SW for an afternoon of fall fun. Artisans will be displaying their wares, and there will be lots of beer tastings from local breweries. Live music will be playing throughout the event, which runs from 12-6 p.m. Food and lawn games will also be on hand. More information can be found here.
Teaching Africa Day at The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art
Saturday afternoon from 1-5 p.m., visit the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art for a family-friendly educational event. Guests will be able to see performances, participate in artmaking workshops, shop an African marketplace and learn about the arts and cultures of Africa. This year’s theme is “Dancing the Message: African Dance as a Language of the Continent and the Diaspora.” More information can be found here (spaces are limited and registration is required).
Join the EU for State of the Arts Night
Artists and performers from all over Europe will be at an after-hours event at the Smithsonian Arts + Industries Building on Saturday. There will be European food and drinks available to buy at a pop-up market and the event ends with a dance party. The event is a collaboration with the embassies of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Sweden. More information can be found here.
