•On Oct. 27, Danielle Paris Canfield and Thomas Canfield hosted this season’s second PEN/Faulkner Founding Friends literary luncheon at their historic Georgetown home. Joe McGinniss Jr. was the guest speaker whose award nominated latest work “Carousel Court” Oprah termed “A fearless novel about a family and a society on the brink.” The author chose to read excerpts from his essay “Lessons from My Father,” which appeared in the July issue of “The New Yorker.” He shared tough family memories “filled with toxins and tumors” which spurred his own need to write.
