‘America and Tolstoy: A Dialogue From Quill to Tweet’

The American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation hosted its black tie Annual Gala at the Cosmos Club on Dec. 6.  Chaired by Joseph D. Duffey, the program featured literary scholars from Russia and the U.S., excerpted dramatized readings from Tolstoy’s letter exchanges with many Americans between 1880 and 1910, entertainment with Stephen Carpenter portraying Tolstoy and a musical program.  In his remarks, Ambassador Kislyak said it has been “an experience to watch Americans react to Tolstoy” and noted “there are values that are common to all of us.”  Guests departed with an ARCCF publication on Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln.
