The Blessing of the Animals at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown took place Sunday, Oct. 1, on a sun-dappled early fall afternoon, with most attendees on good behavior. The biggest dogs knew they were on hallowed ground, but a few smaller yappies (you know who you were) took a bit of advantage.
After a brief service, in which St. Francis medals were bestowed on the newly blessed canine faithful, treats were distributed to four-footers and two-footers. With Theresa Nielson, sponsor Long & Foster/Christie’s and Courtney Stamm’s Cheeky Puppy made certain that no one left unnourished.
