Georgetown Perfect for Small Business Saturday

•Small Business Saturday is tomorrow, and Georgetown is one of the best places to spend this shopping holiday, begun by American Express and others in 2010 to promote small and local businesses and their shops, rather than going to those huge retail spots or shopping online.
Georgetown shoppers should check #SmallBusinessSaturday or #ShopSmall, and be aware that, according to the Georgetown Business Improvement District, “shoppers will also receive a Small Business Saturday bag with purchase at any of the participating small businesses [on this list], while supplies last. Ten of the bags given away on Small Business Saturday will include a golden ticket, redeemable for a $100 Amex gift card.”
Acknowledging that there are more 300 small businesses in Georgetown, the BID lists specials from about 25 shops and eateries. Those offering Saturday deals, whether 10 percent to 50 percent or gift with purchase, include Amina Rubinacci, Chaia tacos, Christ Child Opportunity Shop, District Donut, Georgetown Olive Oil Co., Illusions Salon of Georgetown, LiLi The First, Little Birdies Boutique, the Phoenix, Pillar & Post, Pizzeria Paradiso, Reddz Trading, Sterling & Burke and Via Umbria— all along Wisconsin Avenue, M Street, Cady’s Alley and the side streets.
With additional favorite treats such as champagne at LiLi The First as well as Christmas lists, snacks and balloons at Little Birdies, the special shopping day will provide an easy time of walking — and places to stop along the way.
