Rally, Hearing on Comprehensive Plan, March 20

On Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m., a group called the Grassroots Planning Coalition will hold a rally on the steps of the John A. Wilson District Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, prior to the 2 p.m. public hearing by the Council’s Committee of the Whole on amendments to the District’s Comprehensive Plan.
As of Monday afternoon, more than 250 witnesses had reportedly signed up to testify at the hearing, which concerns Bill 22-663, Comprehensive Plan Amendment Act of 2018.
Employing the tagline “Stop the #ComprehensiveScam,” the coalition is protesting the changes proposed by Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration, which they believe will contribute to resident displacement and the District’s affordable housing crisis.
