GALA’s ‘Noche de Estrellas’ Worthy of a Tony


GALA co-founders Rebecca and Hugo Medrano should aspire to a Tony for its “Night of the Stars” at the National Museum of Women in the Arts May 29. Guests were delighted as performers from “Fame The Musical” bounded down the staircase to perform rousing selections. TV reporter Karla Flores emceed as awards were presented to Sonia Gutiérrez for community and education, to philanthropist Marvin Weissberg and “Orange Is the New Black” actress Diane Guerrero for her advocacy of immigrant rights. There was a youth performance by Paso Nuevo, a free arts and academic program supported by proceeds from the evening.
