Weekend Roundup, March 17 – 20

This weekend’s weather looks spectacular. Why not get out and enjoy? There’s lots to do, including extended St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, a “Friends” experience opening, Taste of Iceland and more. Enjoy!

There Will Be Bagpipes. Extend Your St. Patrick’s Day Festivities

Turn St. Patrick’s Day into a four-day weekend! The Ireland at the Wharf Festival has returned this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The District Pier at the Wharf will turn into all things Ireland with bagpipers, live music, Irish dancing and of course, pints of Guinness. Raise a glass to this too — the event is free to the public! More information can be found here.

Lucky for Us! More St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Fun at the Kennedy Center

Opening this weekend, everyone’s favorite Irish dancing troupe “Riverdance” is celebrating 25 years and they’re stopping by the Kennedy Center. The show is billed as a “reinvention of a beloved favorite.” Performances tonight through Sunday evening with Saturday and Sunday matinees. Don’t forget to wear green! More information can be found here.

Now Replace that “R” with a “C.” Experience Iceland This Weekend

The Taste of Iceland 2022 kicks off a nationwide tour in D.C. today through Sunday. Various events will be hosted at eateries Equinox and Betsy and live music venue Songbyrd. The Eaton Hotel will also be participating. The First Lady of Iceland, Eliza Jean Reid, will be presenting “Icelandic literature through the eyes of three female authors” March 19 at 2 p.m. Don’t miss the Icelandic Culinary Experiences hosted tonight through Sunday at Equinox too. Also, if you need some calmness in your life, Icelandic Provisions is hosting an Elemental Sound Bath and Breakfast Bar at the Eaton on March 19 at 10 a.m. The event includes an hour of meditation followed by breakfast. More information can be found here.

“I’ll Be There for You” at the “Friends” Experience Opening Tonight

No one said it was gonna be this way. The “Friends” Experience opens today after runs in New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas. The interactive experience of the Emmy Award-winning, 10-season TV hit show will be at 1025 F St. NW and run through early June. If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll want to visit — there are a dozen rooms and activations including Monica’s kitchen and the iconic fountain from the credits. More information on the experience can be found here.

Middle C Music Celebrates 20 Years

The Tenleytown neighborhood’s Middle C Music is celebrating 20 years this month. They’ll be hosting an anniversary block party with live music, cake, instrument giveaways, sale prices and live music from past and present teachers and students. More information on the party can be found here.
