Weekend Round Up, June 9 – 12


Happy weekend! So many options in the next few days, including the beginning of Pride Month for which we’ve included a Pride Package of things to do to celebrate. Enjoy!

Are You a Lawyer with a Heart? Do You Like to Run? 

This Saturday, the American Heart Association is hosting the 32nd Lawyers Have Heart 10K, 5K and Fun Walk. The event begins at Washington Harbour in Georgetown. When you register, you’re helping babies and children with congenital heart defects, and supporting the training of thousands in CPR and much more. More information on how to register, click here.

A “Secret Garden Pop-Up?” We’re In! 

This weekend only (June 10-12) Chandon is hosting a “Chandon Secret Garden” at 2904 M St. NW. The pop-up will feature a citrus garden theme to celebrate the new Garden Spritz sparkling wine beverage. Guests who attend can snap photos and create custom body spritzes using essential oils as a take-home gift. The secret garden is the first in a series of pop-ups coming to the 2900 M St. NW block in Georgetown. More information on Chandon can be found here.

Pride Package 

June is Pride Month with so many events to attend in the area. Here are just a few of the fun things to do to celebrate Pride this June.

Capital Pride Weekend Drag Brunch 

Saturday morning is the Capital Pride Weekend Drag Brunch at The Hamilton Live. The 18+ event includes a brunch buffet and a choice of a Tito’s Bloody Mary, beer or soft drink. Tito’s will donate $1 of every cocktail sale to the Capital Pride Alliance and Ommegang beer will donate $1 of every beer sold to the Cyndi Lauper Foundation. The Capital Pride Parade is Saturday 

Join Mayor Muriel Bowser this Saturday for the Capital Pride Parade. The route will honor D.C.’s LGBTQ+ history and the evolution of the LGBTQ+ neighborhoods in the city. It will also respect the origins and importance of taking to the streets to fight for equality. The parade promises to be one of the biggest Pride Parades in the country. Line up to walk with Mayor Bowser at 2 p.m. at the Frank D. Reeves Center (2000 14th St. NW). More information can be found here.

End Your Saturday with “Pride on the Pier” 

Dress as colorfully as you can to show your pride at the 3rd annual “Pride on the Pier” festival. The event includes cocktails at a Waterfront Beer & Wine Garden and a DJ along the water. Stick around until 9 p.m. for a fireworks show. Attendance is free but VIP tickets get you in to more things to do. The event is hosted by The Washington Blade and Lure DC. Capital Pride Festival is Free This Sunday 

This Sunday from noon until 10 p.m., the Capital Pride Festival returns. The event will be held along Pennsylvania Ave. NW and includes three stages, food, drink and over 300 exhibitors. The free event is the biggest in the national capital region. Don’t miss the Capital Pride Concert to cap off your weekend with DNCE headlining (including lead singer Joe Jonas), the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Willow Pill, and season 13-winner Symone.
