‘The Stars Shine’ for Piano Arts Council

The Washington International Piano Arts Council chose “The Stars Shine upon Your Path” as the theme of its black tie holiday celebration at the City Tavern Club on Dec.16.  The stars were indeed shining on a special evening as Chateau Gardecki, WIPAC Board Chair and Founder, greeted guests and saluted current WIPAC President Portia Davidson and incoming President Carolyn Fuller, who served as Fall Gala Committee Co-Chairs.

Renowned pianist and tenor Carlos Ibay, violinist Lovance Ingrahan Ibay and soprano Lee Ann Konstantinov presented a pre-dinner concert program of traditional Christmas carols, highlighted by a rendition of Schubert’s “Ave Maria” and Carlos’s stunning “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s “Turandot.”

The dance floor was full when board member, film producer and performer Robin Phillips introduced artist Pamela Joyce Wright, whose stained glass “Tree of Life” initiated a heated bidding war.

The WIPAC Festival of Music 2022 is — as its name implies — a true international festival of the art of piano performance, as it draws pianists from around the world to share their musical talents in the Annual Washington International Piano Artists Competition.
