New Leadership at Long & Foster


Long & Foster announced major changes this week. They have a new CEO and president as well as a new president of Long & Foster Real Estate.

Patrick Bain will be CEO and president, guiding the strategic direction and operations of the organization’s business lines. He joined Long and Foster 13 years ago, in May 2010, as president of the insurance and home warranty businesses. He has over 30 years of experience in the field, having a record of driving business performance and great customer experiences. Before Long and Foster, Bain was vice-president and general manager for Howard Hanna Insurance Services, headquartered in Pittsburgh with operations throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York.

Jackie Thiel will serve as president of Long & Foster Real Estate, overseeing the company’s 200+ offices and over 9,000 agents across eight states and D.C. Thiel is responsible for Long & Foster’s strategic business direction and operations. Her purpose is ensuring Long and Foster delivers the best service and expertise for their consumers. She too has over 30 years over experience in the industry.

Jeff Detwiler, former president and CEO of The Long and Foster Companies, resigned to pursue other interests and former President, General Brokerage at Long and Foster Real Estate, Boomer Foster, left his position, but will continue affiliating his real estate license with the firm. Detwiler spent almost 14 years with Long and Foster and Foster spent over 17 years with the business in various roles.
