Servin’ It Up Citi-Style at Taste of Tennis

The buzz in La Vie restaurant at the Wharf in Southwest D.C. on Sunday, July 30, was tennis and food, of course, as the Citi Taste of Tennis was dominated by an array of perfectly placed chef tables where patrons could taste and visually experience every gourmet delicacy satisfying diverse culinary palates.

The celebration was hosted by WTA Tennis Pro Jessica Pegula and Tennis Channel’s Nick Monroe alongside Chef Kevin Tien.

El Salvadorian chef Juan Rivera of la Vie restaurant made sure everyone sampled his signature lamb chops.

The annual event always attracts tennis lovers from all over the country and Sunday’s evening event left no one wanting for more food or tropical libations — especially from Barbados.

Celebrity tennis players, of course, were the main attraction as the Mubadala Citi DC Open got underway for the week ahead.

Pro tennis players including Gael Monfils, Elena Svitolina, Belina Bencic, Marcelo Arevalo, Lloyd Glasspool, JJ Wolf, Robin Haase, Maximo Gonzalez, Alexis Galarneau, Ugo Humbert, Petra Martic and more sampled cuisine including jackfruit tacos and braised beef slides courtesy of Chef Mac and Chef Pinke of Flavorture, Shawarma Grill Lamb Chops courtesy of Chef Juan of La Vie, Short Rib Paratha Taco courtesy of Chef Bader Ali of Gerrard Street Kitchen, and more.
