Laura’s Fried Egg with Rice (Toamago Kake Gohan)

My friend Tara and I love food. We love to talk about it, look at menus, dream about restaurants we want to try and so on. We don’t live in the same state, but whenever we get together we tend to make breakfast for everyone (she for us if we’re visiting, and I for them in the reverse). The last breakfast she made for us was Toamago Kake Gohan, aka a Japanese-inspired fried egg on rice.

Why I Love Toamago Kake Gohan

I love recipes that include rice as it can be done up in a million ways. This recipe is so quick and easy, it’s hard not to love it. When Tara made it for us the first time, I took my first bite and knew it was love. Josh and I ate as much as we could! I know you’ll love it, too.

Ingredients

Thankfully, not many! Which is in part why this Japanese-inspired fried egg on rice dish is so great!

White rice – any white rice will do
Sesame oil
Furikake
Eggs
Olive Oil
Cilantro
Sriracha
Salt

That’s it! What’s even better, you can decide how much of each to use!
