It would be incorrect to call the Human Rescue Alliance’s 36th annual Bark Ball at the Washington Hilton a “howling” success because the pawed honorees were far too well behaved. Some may have questioned their human’s choice of costuming but all enjoyed the special canine treats and fawning attention. Many were immortalized by an array of sketch artists.
Guests enjoyed a vegan dinner and a soaring performance by Washington Performing Arts Children of the Gospel Choir.
Another highlight was a silent auction with such temptations as vacation escapes and “Make Your Pet A Star!” The latter will make the winner the 37th Annual Bark Ball Official Dog Ambassador with a photo shoot by portrait photographer Erica Land.
In her remarks, HRA President and CEO Lisa LaFontaine said of the honorees, “It’s like they know this is their night. Treasured pets regaled!”
The event raised $640,000, and all funds will directly contribute to HRA’s ongoing efforts to ensure that every animal receives the care and love they deserve while helping to keep pets with their families.
