DC Chamber at 85: ‘Elevate, Advocate, Connect’


The DC Chamber of Commerce saluted its 2023 Chamber’s Choice Award recipients during its annual 2023 Chamber’s Choice Awards & Gala, “Elevate Advocate Connect,” on Nov. 10 at the Washington Hilton Hotel. At this year’s Gala, the DC Chamber of Commerce will also celebrated 85 years of advocacy on behalf of the D.C. business community.

Gala co-chairs were Tonya Kinlow, Children’s National Hospital and DC Chamber Board Chair; Henok Tesfaye, USP Holdings; Valencia McClure – Pepco. The master of ceremonies was Lorenzo Hall of WUSA9.

“Each year, the DC Chamber of Commerce honors local D.C. businesses that have made an impact on our community through our Chamber’s Choice Awards,” said Angela Franco, President and CEO, DC Chamber of Commerce. “This year’s Award winners have made an indelible impact on the growth and vibrancy of Washington, D.C., and the greater region.”

The Chamber’s Choice Awards are presented annually to individuals and businesses that have demonstrated extraordinary standards of professional excellence, vision, and dedication in the District of Columbia business community. The categories and 2023 awardees are

Community Impact – National Children’s Center (Patricia Browne and Terrance King) Presented by Jim Steffes of Washington Gas

Economic Impact – EB5 Capital (Angelique “Angel” Brunner) Presented by Mario Acosta-Velez of Verizon

Business of the Year – Dantes Partners (Buwa Binitie) – Presented by Earl “Chico” Horton of Tiber Hudson and DC Chamber Chair-Elect/General Counsel

Business Leader of the Year – David Wilmot – Presented by Misty Allen of Comcast

Leadership Award – Danita Johnson (DC United) – Presented by Henok Tesfaye of USP Holdings

Lifetime Legacy Award – Ben’s Chili Bowl (Ali Family) – Presented by Valencia McClure of Pepco
