Spring is here! Prepare for Washington’s blooming social season with this gala guide featuring parties and events from late February through mid-June. We’ll update the list in real time as event details are announced.  

FEBRUARY 

Saturday, February 24 

The Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic’s Annual Wish Ball 

6 p.m.-midnight, Waldorf Astoria, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW  

The annual event raises awareness and funds for children battling critical illnesses. 


MARCH 

Wednesday, March 13 

The Ireland Funds National Gala 

The National Building Museum, 440 G St. NW  

There will be a special tribute to Paul S. Quinn with remarks by Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI).  

Friday, March 15 

Together in Art and Community: The Washington Performing Arts Gala 

Enjoy an evening of performances, dinner, dancing, an auction and more all to support arts education programs and outreach initiatives to connect our community.  

Sunday, March 24 

The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor 

The Kennedy Center, 2700 F St. NW  

This year’s awardee is Kevin Hart.  


APRIL

2024 USO Gala
7 p.m., The Anthem, 901 Wharf St. SW
The event will be hosted by Vince Wilfork and Lisa Marie Riggins with appearances by Mickey Guyton and Six String Soldiers.

Friday, April 12 

The National Museum of Women in the Arts Spring Gala 

6:30 p.m., The National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. NW  

Celebrate after a two-year hiatus in the newly renovated building. This year, actor Tracee Ellis Ross will be honored.  

Saturday, April 13 

Children’s Ball 2024 

The Wharf, District Pier and The Anthem, 901 Wharf St.  

Children’s National Hospital’s annual black-tie gala brings together leaders to raise funds to support patients and families.  

Monday, April 15

Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Annual Gala

6:30 p.m., The Anthem, 901 Wharf St SW, Washington, DC 20024

STC’s irrepressible Artistic Director Simon Godwin and a cast of internationally acclaimed artists and celebrities bring you an evening of inspiration and entertainment alongside a glittering assembly of VIPs, politicians, and leaders from both sides of the Atlantic. Honorees include actors Indira Varma and John Lithgow. Performers to include Jordan Danica, and the event will be emceed by the BBC’s Katty Kay.

Wednesday, April 17 

The Georgetown House Tour Patrons’ Party 

6-8 p.m., Dumbarton House, 2715 Q St. NW  

The Patrons’ Party officially opens the Georgetown House Tour.  

Friday, April 19

Junior League of Washington’s Art of Entertaining Event

7:30-10:30 p.m., The National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. NW

The Art of Entertaining is the inaugural tablescapes event presented by the Junior League of Washington. Immerse yourself in a showcase of captivating tables & demonstrations, designed to inspire both aspiring hosts & seasoned entertainers.

The Catholic Charities Gala 2024 

6:30-11 p.m., The Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Ave. NW  

The 39th annual gala will be co-chaired by Kate and Vince Burke, Regina and Dave DiLuigia and Egan and Billy Cannon.  

Tuesday, April 23 

The Latino Student Fund 30th Anniversary Gala 

Washington National Cathedral, 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW  

The Latino Student Fund (LSF) was founded in 1994 to address disparities in access to education for underrepresented youth in D.C. The fund has served over 11,000 youth over the last three decades.  

Thursday, April 25 

Calvary Women’s Services Hope Gala 

The Schuyler at The Hamilton, 1001 14th St. NW  

The gala serves as a celebration of the triumphs of women who have ended their homelessness for good through Calvary’s programs.  

Friday, April 26 

The Washington Ballet’s 2024 Gala 

This year’s gala co-chairs are Maureen Hinman and Patty Wu.  

Saturday, April 27 

The 36th Annual Lombardi Gala 

The Anthem, 901 Wharf St. SW  

Since 1986, the Lombardi Gala has provided direct funding to Georgetown Lombardi as it seeks to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer.  

An Evening for Hope to Benefit the Children’s Inn at NIH 

5:30 p.m., The Ritz Carlton, Tysons Corner, 1700 Tysons Blvd.  

The evening will include a cocktail reception, silent auction, gourmet dinner, live auction and an after party.

The Smithsonian Craft Show Preview Night Benefit 

Check out what’s featured in this year’s craft show a little early.  

Friday, May 3 

10th Annual Alzheimer’s Association Vision Gala 

7 p.m., Ritz Carlton Washington D.C., 1150 22nd St. NW  

Support the Alzheimer’s Association’s event to raise funds for care, programs and research.  

Wednesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 11  

Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting and Auction 

Four days of fun including a Congress Has Heart Celebration, intimate wine dinners and an exclusive Vintner’s Dinner.  

Tuesday, May 7 

The 14th Annual Great Ladies Luncheon & Fashion Show 

10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., the Ritz Carlton, 1150 22nd St. NW  

Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation.  

Friday, May 10 

The Phillips Collection’s “Looking Forward, Forward Looking” Annual Gala 

6:30 p.m.-midnight, The Phillips Collection, 1600 21st St. NW  

This year’s gala honorees include Sylvia Snowden, Alan and Irene Wurtzel and Reginald Van Lee.  

Imagination Stage Annual Gala

7:30 p.m., The National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. NW

This year’s gala honors the women who made Imagination Stage.

Saturday, May 11 

The Washington National Opera Gala 

5:30 p.m., Kennedy Center, 2700 F St. NW  

Experience the opening night of “Turandot” with exclusive Embassy dinners the night before.  

Wednesday, May 15 

March of Dimes Gourmet Gala 

National Building Museum, 401 F St. NW  

More than 50 members of Congress will compete as chefs at the 42nd annual event.

Georgetown Village Annual Spring Gala Fundraiser

The home of Alan and Nancy Taylor Bubes

This year’s honoree is Dr. Sachiko Kuno.

Gala in the Park: Boogie in the Ballroom

6 p.m., Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD

Enjoy cocktails, a silent auction, dinner and an awards ceremony followed by a disco ball dance party.

38th Annual Helen Hayes Awards 

The Anthem, 901 Wharf St. SW  

The Helen Hayes Awards recognize outstanding achievement from professionals in D.C. theater.  

Wednesday, May 22 

Tudor Place’s 2024 Spring Garden Party 

6-9 p.m., Tudor Place, 1633 31st St. NW  

Proceeds support conservation of thousands of objects in the Tudor Place Collection & Archive, preservation of the 5.5 acre estate and dynamic educational programming for all ages.  

Saturday, June 1 

Friends of Volta Park’s Annual Cocktail Party & Fundraiser

Jewels of the Ocean Gala

The black-tie gala supports Hillwood’s mission to share the cultural treasures bequeathed by Marjorie Merriweather Post.
