Musician Rodrigo Amarante Heads to Wolf Trap

Brazilian Rodrigo Amarante is at Wolf Trap tomorrow for a concert, sharing tracks from his album “Drama.” Amarante opened for Marisa Monte at the Filene Center in 2023. Many may recognize his song “Tuyo,” as it is the opening theme for the Netflix series “Narcos.” More information on Amarante’s show can be found here.

Have Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea at The Fairmont
Enjoy sweet and savory bites at The Fairmont’s Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea beginning Saturday and running through April 14. The Hirshhorn Debuts a New Exhibit

The opening weekend of “Revolutions: Art from the Hirshhorn Collection, 1860-1960” begins at the Hirshhorn Friday. The exhibit, inspired by the museum’s fiftieth anniversary, shows 270 artworks from the permanent collection. The works document the development of Modernism and the beginning of abstraction. Catch the Closing Weekend of “Quijote Sancho Panza, Nuevas Andanzas” at GALA Hispanic Theatre
“Quijote Sancho Panza, Nuevas Andanzas,” by Argentinian playwright Patricia Suarez, ends Saturday at GALA Hispanic Theatre. The bilingual production for young audiences includes lively music and laughs as a duo sets out on adventures. The show explores themes of defending the helpless, human rights and challenging convention. More information on the show can be found here.

Check Out a Community Day Celebrating Women in Music
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is feting women in music Saturday afternoon at Heritage Hall. The program will feature live music and other activities to show visitors the lesser-known female artists from the museum’s extensive collection. The day will also include “Shared Voices,” a program of the Denyce Graves Foundation. More information on the event can be found here.

A Monthly Program Series Continues at The National Museum of Women in the Arts
“The Bigger Picture,” an ongoing series with The National Museum of Women in the Arts, works to expand knowledge of women’s contributions to Western art history. The next iteration is called “Object Lessons.” Sunday afternoon, listen to Director of Education and Interpretation Deborah Gaston as she explores women who helped shape the development of still life. Pressenda Chamber Players Perform Sunday at Glen Echo Park
See Aaron Berofsky on violin, Tobias Werner on cello, and Phillip on piano Sunday at Glen Echo Park. The ensemble, called the Pressenda Chamber Players, will be performing in the Back Room of the Spanish Ballroom as part of the Bach Room Concert Series. Take a Spring Art Walk through Georgetown

A Georgetown Spring Art Walk will be this Saturday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Take in 10 local venues that will showcase a variety of artwork, including paintings and mixed media pieces. During the event, artists will be on hand for meet and greets, discussing their creations. Pieces will also be available for purchase. More information can be found on the event here.

The Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital Presents “One with the Whale”

The D.C. Environmental Film Festival, one of the world’s biggest showcase of environmental films, presents “One with the Whale,” at The National Museum of the American Indian. The film tells the tale of an Alaska Native family and their struggle to get past online harassment from animal activists against their teenage son. More information on the film can be found here.

Usher in Springtime with the National Cherry Blossom Festival

There’s nothing better in D.C. than the start of cherry blossom season! The opening ceremony, co-presented with The Japan Foundation, is Saturday evening and features performances from artists connected to both Japan and the U.S. More on that can be found here. Sunday, don’t miss the Oxon Run “Pinknic” and Kite Fly. There will be kite flying, food, a vendor market, crafts, giveaways, and more supporting the Ward 8 community.
