NATO’s 75th Anniversary Summit in Town this Week


Thirty-two NATO Allies will meet in Washington, D.C. tomorrow through Thursday. For the 75th anniversary summit at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in D.C. The event will bring approximately 13,000 delegates from nearly 70 countries to the area. A few things to keep in mind:

  • There will be increased security around the Convention Center, particularly July 10 and 11.
  • There will be large amounts of traffic, not only around the Convention Center, but Carnegie Library, Mount Vernon Square and the Mellon Auditorium. Businesses and residences around the area will be accessible but be aware of potential additional security screenings to allow for utmost safety.
  • Key topics will include: deterrence and defense, Ukraine assistance and partnerships, particularly those in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Stay informed on everything going on this the summit by texting NATODC to 888-777 for text alerts, signing up for Alert DC at alertdc.dc.gov, or accessing this interactive map of closures.

  • There will even be a NATO-themed Washington Nationals baseball game at Nationals Park today at 4:05 p.m.
