See ‘The Bigger Picture’ at the National Museum of Women in the Arts

Join the National Museum of Women in the Arts for a monthly series that shakes up traditional narratives. Sunday afternoon’s program is focused on “Artists’ Actions.” Director of Education and Interpretation Deborah Gaston chats about captivating biographies, introduces mediums and genres that women have initiated, and guests are invited to share their own insights. See Tony Siqi Yun on Piano with Washington Performing Arts

Canadian-born pianist Tony Siqi Yun at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater will be performing Sunday October 27 at 2 p.m. Yun was a gold medalist at the First China International Music Competition, and he is making his Washington Performing Arts Hayes Piano Series debut. See Three Nights of Graham Nash at Wolf Trap

Graham Nash, founding member of Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Hollies, will be at Wolf Trap Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Nash will be joined by Todd Caldwell on keyboard and vocals, Adam Minkoff on bass, drums, guitars and vocals, and Zach Djanikian on guitars, mandolin, drums and vocals. Expect to hear hits like “Our House” and “Just a Song Before I Go.” More information on tickets can be found here.

The Washington National Opera Performs ‘Fidelio’

The Washington National Opera opens its 69th season with “Fidelio,” by Beethoven. The new production is the story of a woman who saves her husband from unjust incarceration by disguising herself as a man. The performance will be directed by Artistic Director Francesca Zambello and conducted by Music Director Designate Robert Spano. More information can be found here.

Trick or Treat at Mount Vernon

Enjoy an afternoon at Mount Vernon on Saturday and take the whole family to trick or treat. Costumes are encouraged and special Mount Vernon treat bags are required to collect candy. There will be a costume parade at 4 p.m. and a puppet show at 3 and 4 p.m. too. More information on the festivities can be found here.

“Art Flow(s)” joins Strathmore this weekend for a friends and family day to take the time to enjoy the exhibition “Art Flow(s): Perspectives from the African Diaspora” and take in chats, mini-tours, live music and dancing and more. More information on this event can be found here.

Historic Italian Auto Race Is in Middleburg Until Sunday

The 1000 Miglia, also known as the world’s most historic and iconic auto race, is in Middleburg now through October 27. Driving days are today and Saturday and up to 40 cars and their drivers will compete in two separate classes (1000 Miglia Era and Post-1000 Miglia Era). Top eligible winning drivers get an invite to go to Italy to compete in June 2025. More information on the event can be found here.

Dupont Underground and the Washington Blade are hosting a drag show Friday from 8-9:30 p.m. Enjoy a performance with some of the best drag queens in the city. More information can be found here.

Learn about D.C. Architecture—on the Water

Check out D.C.’s architectural aesthetic from the water as you sail along the Potomac with DC Design Tours and Capitol River Cruises. The boat casts off from Georgetown and includes a live, guided commentary. Passengers can learn about the architecture and design of the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Pentagon, and Kennedy Center, among others. More information can be found here.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at the National Museum of the American Indian

Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a time to remember ancestors. It is a celebration of family both living and dead and the National Museum of the American Indian is commemorating it Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be dance performances, mask making and more. Visitors are also welcome to leave photos and mementos of their loved ones on an altar or writing their names on a butterfly that will go on a memorial arch. More information can be found here.

Don’t Miss John Leguizamo’s ‘The Other Americans’ at Arena Stage

Now through Nov. 24, check out Emmy Award winning multi-hyphenate John Leguizamo at Arena Stage as he stars in “The Other Americans.” Leguizamo is Nelson Castro, a Colombian-Puerto Rican laundromat owner who is dealing with a failing business and deep secrets.
