Welcoming November’s arrival this weekend, there are plenty of things to do, including Dia de los Muertos celebrations, a new exhibit at Dupont Underground, tractor rides at Mount Vernon and more.

Dupont Underground, along with the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation are unveiling a new exhibit open to the public beginning Friday at 11 a.m. The exhibit, called “Mosaico | Italian code of a timeless art,” is a multimedia immersive exhibit molded around seven stations representing Rome, Pompeii, Aquileia, Ravenna, Palermo/Monreale, Baiae and Piazza Armerina. Enjoy New Takes on Classic Broadway Tunes at Wolf Trap

Third Reprise, a New York City-based group, will be at The Barns at Wolf Trap Friday evening for a concert full of fresh takes on traditional Broadway songs. The group has over 11 million views on their version of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. Expect to see versions of “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera, “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables and more. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at The Wharf
On Saturday from 4-7 p.m., head to The Wharf for their Celebración Día de los Muertos. From M Street Landing through The Grove, there will be live music from the Latin Celtic band “La Unica,” authentic street food and a Modelo beer garden, sugar skull decorating, face painting, and brightly decorated altars honoring deceased loved ones. New this year will be a community lantern procession at sunset. More information on the event can be found here.

Keep the Dia de los Muertos Festivities Going at The National Portrait Gallery
One of the National Portrait Gallery’s biggest events of the year, their annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, is Saturday from 5-8:30 p.m. There will be live music, Mexican folk-dance performances, workshops, face painting and activities for all ages. Take a Tractor Ride at Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is offering tractor rides November 1 through 5. Guests can go behind the scenes of Mount Vernon’s trails and see where 18th century roads once winded through the forest. Also, riders can take a peek at the livestock facility where Mount Vernon’s animals live and see the mansion from the west gate (typically not accessible to the public). Note: due to many children in the area off from school those dates, Mount Vernon is giving 30 percent off one-day general admission student discounts with the code STUDENT. A New Exhibit Opens at The Phillips Collection

Opening Saturday at The Phillips Collection is “Breaking it Down: Conversations from the Vault.” The exhibit provides a deep dive and interesting take on artists like Sam Gilliam, Georgia O’Keeffe, Paul Klee, Arthur Dove and current innovators like Sean Scully and Joyce Wellman. Celebrate the Harvest at District Winery
Sunday afternoon, District Winery is celebrating the harvest season with a celebration that includes a bottomless wine bar, food station, games and more. Don’t miss rooftop dancing for some extra fun too. More information on the party, including how to get tickets, can be found here.

See “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at Signature Theatre

The Tony Award-winning Sondheim musical “A Funny Things Happened on the Way to the Forum” is at Signature Theatre now through January 12, 2025. Noted as one of the best musical comedies of all time, it tells the tale of three households that live next to each other in ancient Rome.
