Christmas Magic and ‘Believing’ at the Fairmont

Mayor Muriel Bowser kicked off the Christmas season and the 21st annual Christmas tree lighting festivities at the outdoor courtyard of the Fairmont Hotel of Georgetown on Dec. 3.

With kids and families eagerly waiting for the start of the holiday season, Bowser thanked the crowd for believing in the spirit of giving and gratitude.  A surprise visit by Santa Claus made the evening even more special.

A 12-foot and life-size edible gingerbread house — where children visited Santa after the lighting ceremony — was a main attraction for the young and the young at heart. The generous toy donations were for Horton’s Kids.
