See The Hip-Hop Nutcracker at The National Theatre
This weekend only, enjoy a reimagining of the classic “Nutcracker” ballet as a modern holiday dance production with Kurtis “The Breaks” Blow, the first rapper to be signed by a major label in 1979, who will be the show’s MC. More information on tickets can be found here.

‘Tis the season to be cozy! Now through December 31, sit fireside at The Living Room at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown and enjoy s’mores and all the fixings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.

Celebrate “A Family Christmas” with The Choral Arts Society of Washington
This Sunday at 1 p.m., take the whole family for a concert (one hour, so perfect for the littles!) of all the classic holiday carols. Christmas Illuminations at Mount Vernon Brings Good Cheer
Mount Vernon is hosting a weekend of family-friendly fun. Friday through Sunday evening, there will be a winter market, holiday treats, campfires with s’mores and even a special greeting from General Washington on the east lawn. Arena Stage is hosting Step Afrika’s Magical Musical Holiday Step Show now through Sunday. Enjoy the African American tradition of stepping mixed with holiday season magic. The Washington Master Chorale Presents “Comfort and Joy”
Sunday at The Church of the Epiphany, take in a holiday tradition with The Washington Master Chorale. There will be French, British and American works that portray the spirit of the holiday season. Francis Poulenc’s moving a cappella choral cycle Un soir de neige will be performed, along with Herbert Howells’ “Long, Long Ago.” More information on tickets can be found here.

Sure, D.C. residents are inundated with Nutcracker options this time of year, but the Fairfax Symphony and the Fairfax Ballet’s production of the show this Saturday and Sunday is unique as it’s the only one to feature live music by a full orchestra accompanying dancers on stage. There will be special guests from the New York City ballet too, like Emily Kikta, and local young dancer Caroline Musci will be Clara. More information on tickets can be found here.
