Be a Tudor Power Player at Folger Shakespeare Library

This miniature, believed to depict Queen Anne, was painted and framed as a pair (with a miniature of King James) by an unidentified artist. The style of the monarchs’ attire and ruffs, especially Anne’s standing wired lace ruff, suggests they were made around 1620. Courtesy Folger Shakespeare Library.

“How to Be a Power Player: Tudor Edition” opens at Folger Shakespeare Library tomorrow. The exhibit will feature historical and literary figures during the time the Tudors reigned. Learn how royal advisors to household staff used any means necessary, no matter how cutthroat or creative, to gain power and favor with monarchs (spoiler alert: many stories often end in a beheading). More information on the event can be found here.
