Spring is coming — and also coming are top-flight retailers, restaurants and businesses to Georgetown that show its continuing and increasing allure.
Coming: Google Store on M
A bricks-and-mortar Google store is planned for M Street in the former Aerie store, as The Georgetowner previously reported in November.
“The tech giant recently signed a 10-year lease for 7,700 square feet at 3235 M St. NW, currently home to lifestyle and intimate apparel brand Aerie, which plans to relocate,” according to the Washington Business Journal. “It will sell Google products including phones and Chromebooks, along with in-store tech support and other programming,”
“EastBanc is excited to welcome Google to Georgetown,” the firm’s Philippe Lanier said in a statement. “The arrival of Google not only solidifies the neighborhood’s reputation as a premier hub for innovative shopping experiences and cutting-edge brands but provides many shoppers the first opportunity to touch and feel these incredible products while surrounded by Google experts.”
Aerie plans to move to the former Patagonia space at 1048 Wisconsin Ave. NW.
So far, there are five other Google locations: two in New York City and one each in Boston, Chicago and Mountain View, California.
Coming: Brasero Atlántico-Florería Atlántico
It looks like Georgetown keeps attracting the crème de la crème. The cocktail bar and restaurant run by Renato “Tato” Giovannoni and Alex Resnik will set up in the old firehouse near the C&O Canal.
“Argentinian restaurant Brasero Atlántico and adjoining acclaimed cocktail bar Florería Atlántico are opening a D.C. outpost at 1064-1066 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Founded in Buenos Aires, they have locations in Barcelona with more in the works,” reports Eat DC.
Marc Ross on social media opined: “This is sensational and will soon be the hottest cocktail joint in DC. Nothing like Florería Atlántico exists anywhere in the US, let alone DC.”
Coming: Two Nine Sushi on Congress Court
There’s more sushi to come — as in the Hawaiian-influenced sushi and chirashi restaurant Two Nine — being shoehorned and built in place of a former parking spaces on Congress Court. That’s the alley the runs east-west between 31st Street and Wisconsin Avenue.
Zach Ramos and Amy Phan of Ama Ami and, before that, Sushi Taro plan to open the two-story, 1,500-square-foot restaurant later in the spring. Expect artful chirashi bowls as well as a omakase counter. The address is 1218 31st St. NW, same as the Ultra Violet flower shop.
Coming: It’s a Secret Med Spa
A skincare medical spa is ready to open at 1365 Wisconsin Ave. NW. The first floor of the corner building previously housed a BB&T Bank. (But don’t tell anybody.)
With 14 locations in Texas, Arizona and Chicago, It’s a Secret Med Spa confides: “Our med spa in Georgetown is committed to creating a sanctuary of relaxation and renewal, featuring an array of treatments tailored to restore balance and enhance well-being. Here, we invite you to experience a harmonious fusion of luxury and care, right in the heart of this historic neighborhood.”
Coming: Huckberry
A men’s apparel one-stop retailer will replace the departed Sleep Number mattress store at 1239 Wisconsin Ave. NW. “The company only has three other stores in the U.S.,” reported Urban Turf in October. “Some of those locations are pop-ups rather than permanent storefronts. So, it will be interesting to see what the plan is for the D.C. outpost.”
