As we round out winter, there are plenty of things to do this weekend including Mardi Gras at The Wharf, a new show at Imagination Stage, an exhibit to kick off National Women’s History Month at The National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Get ‘Shucked’ at the National Theatre
Now through this Sunday only, the Tony Award winning musical Shucked is at The National Theatre. With a book by Robert Horn (‘Tootsie’) and a score by Grammy winning artists Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, the hilarious show is promoted as a “cornfed and corn-bred” American musical. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.
‘Uncanny’ Opens at the National Museum of Women in the Arts
Opening tomorrow, don’t miss ‘Uncanny’ at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The exhibit examines the uncanny, a psychological experience of something that is oddly familiar yet at the same time unfamiliar, bringing about a sense of unease. Women’s bodies throughout history were often associated with the strange and horrific, and this exhibit organizes itself on themes of surreal imaginings, the uncanny valley and unsafe spaces. Expect to see paintings photography, sculpture, video art and more. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
