Learn about Timekeeping at Tudor Nights
Tudor Nights, an opportunity to see rarely displayed objects and ephemera from the Tudor Place Collection and Archive is hosting an event this evening about the obsession with the measurement of time. The event is presented in collaboration with The James M. Gilliss Library at the Naval Observatory. After you check out elaborate works of art and ultra-precise technological instruments, enjoy cocktails and lite hors d’oeuvres. More information can be found here.

See Grammy Winner Lila Downs at Strathmore

Singer Lila Downs blends folk, jazz, blues, traditional Mexican rancheras and more and will be at Strathmore this evening. She was raised in Oaxaca and Minnesota and channels her heritage through music and singing about immigration, women’s issues and social justice. More information on tickets can be found here.

Relish in Cherry Blossom Season at Bloomaroo

The Phillips Collection Continues its Living Room Series

While seated tickets are sold out, standby seating is offered on a first come, first served basis. The next iteration of The Phillips Collection’s Living Room Series is all about lighting. The National Capital Cabaret Festival is This Weekend

This weekend at Parlour Victoria, Capital Cabaret, a local non-profit organization promoting the art of cabaret, is hosting a festival. Expect a lineup of local cabaret singers, nationally and internationally recognized vocal artists and new talents from the D.C. area. There will also be an open mic for singers of all levels. D.C. Sketchfest is Back for Its second year now through Saturday night. The festival is at The DC Arts Center in Adams Morgan and features 36 of the best sketch comedy troupes in the country. Union Market is hosting an event for cars with local auto repair mechanic Roda to help them get a spring tune-up just in time for allergy season. Fireworks are Always a Good Idea

Head to the Kennedy Center to watch a sky painting with large-scale projections and a fireworks display over the Potomac River. Artist Cai Guo-Qiang will be creating the art with his custom AI model called cAITM. This is a free event and tickets aren’t required. Celebrate the Art of Textiles at GW’s Textile Museum
The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum have an exhibit, “Intrinsic Beauty: Celebrating the Art of Textiles” on display through June 14. There is a weekend’s worth of events celebrating the museum’s centennial year, including a program on East Asian textiles, a family day honoring kimonos, capes and other art and more. Check Out INSeries Poppea at Capitol Hill
The final part of INSeries’ Monteverdi trilogy is at St. Mark’s on Capitol Hill Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. “Poppea” brings the composer’s most famous opera of power, sex and love to light and inspired by the performance tradition of South India (specifically Bharatanatyam dance). Take in Haydn’s “Creation” with the Choral Arts Society of Washington

Sunday evening, The Choral Arts Society will be performing Haydn’s “Creation” under the creative direction of Choral Arts Artistic Director Marie Bucoy-Calavan. The performance will offer a new way to experience the Biblical story with dancers from CityDance Conservatory. The show will be at Kennedy Center’s Concert Hall.
