Celebrate Shakespeare’s Birthday Saturday

The tradition continues! Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday at the Folger with ruff-making, lawn games, a sonnet-writing competition, face painting and more. Don’t miss a “Twelfth Night” puppet show and of course, 2:45 p.m. birthday cupcakes. More information on the event, which begins Saturday at 11 a.m., here.
Lexington and Concord Day at Mount Vernon—and Baby Lambs!

Also on Saturday, don’t miss Lexington and Concord Day at Mount Vernon. Explore the 250th anniversary of the outbreak of the American Revolution, explore the battle of Lexington and Concord, Washington taking command of the new army and the Second Continental Congress. There will be activity stations on the Bowling Green and live performances from Mount Vernon’s residential fifer. Also, stop by the estate’s farm—40 baby lambs were recently born there and are absolutely adorable. More information can be found here.
Amy Kaslow Gallery Opens a New Exhibit

Amy Kaslow Gallery opens its newest exhibit, “Dairan Fernandez de la Fuente: Cuban Chronicle” this evening at 6 p.m. The exhibit will feature Cuban artist Dairan Fernandez de le Fuent, whose wood-block prints tell tales in an Art Deco palette. From his studio Taller de Grafica Experimental, guests will see de la Fuente’s traditional tools and techniques, including sculpting woodblock and painting canvas. More information can be found here.
Uncorked: DC Gets its Sip on This Weekend
The second annual wine event at Nationals Park offers sips from over 100 wines and bubblies from all over the world. There will also be seltzers, canned cocktails and spirits available too. Food from local vendors and live music will be on hand as well. VIP tickets get four full hours of tasting, access to an air-conditioned lounge, a selection from higher-end wineries and a commemorative wine glass. More information on tickets can be found here.
Indie Favorite Bright Eyes Will Be at The Anthem Sunday

Connor Oberst’s main project, Bright Eyes, will be at The Anthem Sunday evening for a concert. Oberst has been performing on stage since age 12, starting out first as a punk rocker before evolving into a folk music singer-songwriter. More information on tickets to the show can be found here.

Have a Bored Teen on Spring Break? Send Them to Washington Printmakers Gallery
Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Washington Printmakers Gallery is hosting a Photography Workshop for Teens. It will touch on the important aspects of photography, including light to composition, exposure, aperture, shutter speed and more. An American University student and fellow at the Gallery will be facilitating the workshop. More information on the workshop can be found here.
