Weekend Roundup: April 24-27


We’ve got a packed weekend ahead! There’s the house tour and French Market, and that’s just in Georgetown! The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is also this weekend, but we’ve got a separate story for that. However you choose to spend this beautiful and busy weekend, we hope you have a fun one.

The Georgetown House Tour is this Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Every year, the Georgetown House Tour features Georgetown’s most spectacular homes, all within walking distance and at your preferred pace and order. Tonight at Lisner Auditorium: José Andres
Multi-hyphenate José Andrés will be at Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University this evening for a conversation with podcaster Guy Raz. The two will be talking about Andrés’ newest book called “Change the Recipe: Because You Can’t Build a Better World Without Breaking Some Eggs.” More information on the event can be found here.

Visit Wolf Trap for Chamber Music

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will be at The Barns at Wolf Trap Friday evening. A group of six on violin, viola and cello will be performing Bach, Strauss’s Sextet from “Capriccio” and Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence.” More information on tickets can be found here.

The Phillips Collection’s Living Room Series Continues
While it’s currently sold out, there is currently standby seating on a first come, first served basis for The Phillips Collection’s next edition of their Living Room series. “The Maverick’s Museum with Blake Gopnik and Jonathan P. Binstock” will feature former Chief Art Critic for The Washington Post and author of “The Maverick Museum: Albert Barnes and His American Dream” Blake Gopnik and Jonathan P. See Classical Pianist Yunchan Lim at The Kennedy Center

Classical pianist Yunchan Lim will be at The Kennedy Center Sunday at 4 p.m. for a concert. The sensation became the youngest person ever to win gold at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2022 when he was just 18. The Smithsonian Craft Show is This Weekend
The Smithsonian Craft Show returns to the National Building Museum for a weekend of showcasing hand-crafted, American artisanal works. The event is hosted by the Smithsonian Women’s Committee as a fundraiser. More information on tickets can be found here.

Centrolina Will Host the Next Jacques Pépin Dinner
The Jacques Pépin Foundation is hosting a nationwide fundraising campaign to honor Chef Jacques Pépin’s 90th birthday in December and his 75-year career with a series of dinners. Next up is Centrolina on Sunday. Six-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Amy Brandwein will serve a sit-down dinner featuring regional Italian fare. More information on the dinner can be found here.

A Little Secret for You: A Banned Books Speakeasy is This Weekend
The Study at Morrison House in Alexandria is hosting a Banned Books Speakeasy now through Saturday. The venue is filling their shelves and cocktail menu with banned books, all while supporting local libraries. For every cocktail, Morrison House will donate $1 to the Virginia Library Association to support local libraries and librarians. More information on the event can be found here.

Stock Up at Mount Vernon’s Spring Plant and Garden Sale

Mount Vernon is hosting their annual plant and garden sale this weekend. Members can shop early tomorrow from noon to 6 p.m. and the general public can shop Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be heirloom plants, veggies, annual flowers and herbs will be on sale. Yum—The 8th DC Chocolate Festival is This Weekend
The 8th Annual DC Chocolate Festival is Friday and Saturday and will include two days of chocolate education and deliciousness at La Maison Francaise at the Embassy of France. Enjoy tastings, workshops and lots of treats, drinks and more. More on the festival can be found here.

Georgetown’s “Magnifique” French Market is Back
The 22nd annual Georgetown French Market is Friday through Sunday. The open-air market, inspired by those in France will feature sidewalk sales from 40+ locally owned boutiques, cafés and galleries along Wisconsin Ave. More information on the event can be found here.

Saturday morning, bring your little ones to a Character Brunch at District E Powered by Ticketmaster. Don’t miss a breakfast buffet of eggs, pancakes, coffee, juice and more.
