Weekend Roundup: Evermay Debuts ‘The Listening Room’


We’re back for another weekend! The Citizens Association of Georgetown is hosting their annual fundraiser this evening, S&R Evermay starts their new concert series and there’s the first ever Foggy Bottom Book Crawl in, you guessed it, Foggy Bottom. Enjoy!

 

Tonight: The Citizens Association of Georgetown’s Annual Fundraiser Cocktail Party
The Citizens Association of Georgetown’s Annual Fundraiser Cocktail Party, “Embrace the Past and Shape the Future,” will be held at Sequoia this evening. There will be food, drinks, live music and more and the 2025 co-chairs are Puja Parekh, Adrienne Nolan-Smith and Claire Wilder. More information, including how to donate, can be found here.

Take Your Favorite Littles to ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show’ at Imagination Stage

Best for ages 2 to 6, this musical puppet show is based on the book of the same name. Kids will love the over 70 larger-than-life puppets and original music and returns to Imagination Stage after a 2023 sold-out run. More information can be found here.

S&R Evermay Begins ‘The Listening Room’ Friday
S&R Evermay launches their new concert series Friday evening with “The Listening Room.” The series brings together music lovers and members of the community to celebrate all types of music, from classical to jazz, contemporary to theatrical. Friday’s featured artists are cellist Char Prescott and pianist Ryo Yanagitani. More information can be found here.

Celebrate Back to The Yards and National Punch Day at The Yards
The Yards is the place to be this weekend with two different celebrations. First up is Back to The Yards, which returns for a seventh year. The retro-inspired, family-friendly evening runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday and promises lots of video game battles, food and other activities. Saturday in honor of National Punch Day, there will be cocktail specials like Bammy’s at The Yards, who will be featuring a rum punch, and Trouble Bird’s will be offering a “Jungle Bird,” which is a mix of rum, pineapple and Campari. Sunday: An Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert

Sunday evening at Strathmore, author Elizabeth Gilbert will be speaking on her first nonfiction book in 10 years. The book, called All the Way to the River: Love, Loss, and Liberation, reflects on the success of her number one New York Times bestsellers Eat Pray Love, which was turned into a movie starring Julia Roberts in 2010. Cheers to Catbird!
Jewelry store Catbird is celebrating their 21st birthday on Saturday in Georgetown at their store on M Street. There will be cake from Ladurée, drinks, and a prize swan, where guests can pick a sealed envelope from to reveal an anniversary prize. Book Lovers Take Note: The Foggy Bottom Book Crawl is Sunday
The first ever Foggy Bottom Book Crawl will be Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Expect lots of author readings, book signings and community conversations at six participating venues. Authors like Alexandra Petri, Kyla Sommers and Andrew Gretes, among others, will be in attendance. More information can be found here.
