Celebrate Oktoberfest at The Wharf
Head down to The Wharf on Saturday to celebrate Oktoberfest with a day of festivities. The fun begins with the 13th Annual Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash to benefit Rural Dog Rescue. InSeries Opens Saturday with the World Premiere Staging of ‘St. John the Baptist’
“St. John the Baptist,” a baroque era piece written in the 1670s, tells the story of Salome. Believe it or not, the opera has never been staged. In collaboration with New York’s Catapult Opera, the show makes its theatrical debut on Saturday. The show will be performed in English by local singers and the set is imagined by Baltimore-based designers. Joanie Leeds to Appear at Kennedy Center

As part of the Kennedy Center’s Performances for Young Audiences Season, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Joanie Leeds will be performing an afternoon of music, stories and songs in folk, pop, hip-hop, rock, and more. Leeds has released 11 children’s music albums over the last 17 years. The concert is recommended for children ages 5 and up. More information on tickets can be found here.
S&R Evermay Continues ‘The Listening Room’
S&R Evermay continues their concert series “The Listening Room” Friday from 7-9 p.m. with “Ellington Unleashed.” The concert will feature The Ellington Carthan Trio, led by jazz pianist Ellington Carthan. Carthan is a former Strathmore Artist in Residence and performed for President Joe Biden. More information can be found here.
John Cleese to Appear at Strathmore

Dance Company Pilobolus Will Be Performing at the Hylton Performing Arts Center
George Mason’s Hylton Performing Arts Center is hosting the rebellious and energetic dance company “Pilobolus” for a Sunday afternoon performance. The group, who has been around since the early 1970s, is performing their “Other Worlds” program, which incorporates acrobatics and modern dance. More information can be found here.
The U.S. Constitution is on Display for the First Time in Years

The National Archives is displaying every piece of the U.S. Constitution at one time, a move that hasn’t happened in years. All four original pages, the Bill of Rights, a seldom seen page signed by George Washington himself, and 17 additional amendments. The display is part of the year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday, which will be July 4, 2026. More information can be found here.
Check Out ‘Strategic Love Play’ at Signature Theatre
Running through November 9, Succession writer Miriam Battye has written “Strategic Love Play,” showing at the Signature Theatre. The play, about the randomness of modern dating, tells the story of a man and woman who meet online and decide to meet up in person. They start off on the wrong foot but soon let their guard down and romance (or something like it!) ensues. More information on tickets can be found here.
Happy 90th, Georgetown Library!
The Georgetown Neighborhood Library is celebrating 90 years with an afternoon open house Sunday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. There will be a performance by rody Bond, karaoke and mocktails, children’s crafts and more. More information on the event can be found here.
