On March 22, Mayor Muriel Bowser and others testified at a House Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing concerning the Washington, D.C. Admission Act.
Proposed by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), the bill, H.R.51, to be discussed and voted on tomorrow, would declare the city a new state, named “Washington, Douglass Commonwealth.”
Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton reported on Feb. 21 that she had introduced H.R.51, the Washington, D.C. Admission Act, and obtained a record 155 original cosponsors.
