Woolly Mammoth’s free virtual gala will take place on Monday and the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center will reopen on Wednesday with timed-entry ticketing.
On April 23, the Smithsonian Institution announced that it is planning to reopening seven museums and the National Zoo in May.
On Friday and Saturday, the Udvar-Hazy Center will celebrate the International Space Station. Also, galleries are about to close and reopen in the National Gallery’s West Building.
This weekend’s musical options include Duke Ellington School vocal ensembles, John Lloyd Young, Chris Botti, the City Choir and Trio Karénine.
Chief Curator Peter L. Jakab, who spoke at this month’s Cultural Leadership Breakfast, started out at the National Air and Space Museum seven years after the museum opened, during the nation’s bicentennial.
