Cocktail of the Month: Parker’s Mark
•
Food trends are always changing. First the cupcake craze and now donuts. Most interesting lately?has been bacon. Bacon?infused vodka, bacon?sprinkled donuts, even?bacon flavored body?oils have hit the market. A-Town Bar and Grill, a popular brunch destination in Arlington, joins the trend, offering?a boozy, bacon-filled?cocktail, that’s now one of their?top sellers. Owner Scott?Parker and veteran bartender Gary Koh created?Parker’s Mark (named?after Scott) to quench the?ever popular thirst for?bacon. Start with apple?wood smoked bacon,?crumbled with a touch of?brown sugar. Then add 6?oz. of Maker’s Mark, a?touch of sweet vermouth,?Manhattan style, and then add brown sugar simple syrup for a rich, sweet flavor. Shake well and pour over bacon and brown sugar crumbles. For extra sweetness, rim glass with brown sugar. ?

Yelp Fantasy Land
November 6, 2012
•Cocktails, moonbounce and haircuts, oh my! These are just a few elements that accompanied the food trucks, unicorns, DJs and more that made up the Yelp Fantasy Land. Businesses, beware! Yelp is showering love on those known as the Yelp Elite. The Elite are the ones who share the most experiences on yelp — which we all use to get the skinny on new and old businesses. This Fantasy Land, nuzzled in the Atlas District at Atlas Heights, was the ultimate adult playground to show appreciation to those who give us the low-down on Yelp.

Weddings on Display at The Wedding Salon
September 19, 2012
•Brides gathered at the Madison on Sept. 10 to piece together their dream wedding at the Wedding Salon. Larger-than-life centerpieces, destination weddings, unique venues and more were on site for excited brides to weigh some of D.C.’s hottest options. Gaithersburg bridal shop P. Lawrence dressed some of the models on site to highlight the latest in trends. Many brides were already saying “yes to the dress,” as they pranced around with cocktails. The popular Charm City Cakes was also there along with Cake Panache wooing guests with yummy samples. The Wedding Salon was an amazing display in beautiful surroundings, but the icing on the wedding cake was the gift bag almost too heavy to carry out the door. Products, wedding magazines, samples — everything a girl needs to get excited about getting married. Now, if only they had grooms on display . . .
