Celebrating the Classical Music of India

Experience the dynamic rhythms and vibrant modes of Indian classical music with Akshara. Led by composer Bala Skandan, this ensemble presents delightful interpretations of traditional ragas of Carnatic music infused with intricate improvisations patterns.

Akshara is made up of composer and leader Bala Skandan on mridangam (double-headed drum) and kanjira (frame drum); Nitin Mitta on tabla; Arun Ramamurthy on Carnatic violin; Jay Gandhi on Bhansuri (bamboo flute); Dave Eggar on cello; and Maya Rau-Murthy on Konnakkol (vocal rhythm).

Two performances: 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Free. No registration required.
