Named for the Virginia town where he was fostered, three-year-old Luray is the new
mascot of the Inn at Little Washington. Luray is a Dalmatian, the latest in a line of spotted
dogs that have become a kind of living logo for the five-star restaurant and inn. When the
kitchen was remodeled 16 years ago, chefproprietor Patrick O’Connell and his staff
began wearing Dalmatian-patterned aprons and trousers. The spotted apparel became so
popular with guests that adult and children’s versions are now available for purchase.
