•Regina Knox Woods, Vice President, Government Affairs for the District of Columbia, MedStar Health, sent out the following update on the construction along 3800 Reservoir Road NW for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s new Medical/Surgical Pavilion.
NEW INFORMATION FOR MEDICAL/SURGICAL PAVILION
Excavation: Excavation and support of excavation in the Lot B area (between St. Mary’s Hall and Reservoir Road) is underway and will continue for approximately three months.
Tower Cranes: All three tower cranes remain in service. These three cranes serve an important function in the ongoing construction as they move heavy construction materials around the site and create efficiencies in the overall construction activity. The first tower crane removal at the south end of the site is scheduled for Feb. 11 – 14. A reminder email with details will be sent to the community in advance.
Below-Ground Concrete Structure: Work to build out the below-ground concrete structure, which includes the underground parking area, is complete in the primary site footprint. The below grade structure in Lot B is scheduled to be constructed in the spring and summer of 2022.
Above-Ground Structure: The structure of the pavilion is fully erected and the installation of the exterior façade and windows will continue through the first half of 2022.
Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing: Work to install the infrastructure for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing service to the pavilion continues as scheduled. Electrical energization is in process and will continue during the first half of 2022, and equipment testing and startup will begin in the spring of 2022.
DC Water Service Infrastructure: Work to reinforce and upgrade the existing DC Water service piping within the pavilion construction site is substantially complete.
