Begin your holiday shopping at the National Museum of the American Indian’s 2022 Native Art Market
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian will host its annual Native Art Market Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3–4, in Washington, D.C., featuring works from more than 30 Indigenous artists from the Western Hemisphere. The weekend event offers a unique shopping opportunity for visitors to purchase traditional and contemporary works—including beadwork, jewelry, paintings, photography, pottery, and sculpture—by award-winning and innovative Indigenous artists.
The market will be located in the museum’s Potomac Atrium and open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

During this year’s event, art lovers and the community can learn about Native arts and cultures. The market features emerging, innovative, multi-talented and critically acclaimed artists representing 26 Indigenous nations.
The Roanoke Museum Store will also be open as usual, offering Indigenous items illustrating how different artists interpret cultural traditions and art forms. Located on the museum’s second level, the store features jewelry, textiles and other works by Native artisans; souvenirs; and children’s books and toys. The name “Roanoke” reflects the importance of waterways to Native commerce and alludes to the shells once used as currency by local Native peoples.
