Tonight: The New Neighborhood Small Business Block Party
The Citizens Association of Georgetown and Georgetown Main Street are hosting a small block party this evening for three new small businesses in Georgetown. The event is exclusive to CAG members and limited to 75 reservations. The businesses feted will be: Arcay Chocolates, Georgetown Garden Shop and Manse. More information can be found here.
Honor Dia de los Muertos with the National Museum of the American Indian
Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., head to the National Mall to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). There will be dance performances, mask-making, artist performances and visitors will be welcome to leave photos and mementos of their loved ones on the ofrenda (altar). Superfine Art Fair Comes to Union Market
Don’t miss the Superfine Art Fair at Union Market, Dock 5, this weekend only. See 100 artists from the D.C. area and around the world. Artworks available for sale are at affordable prices ($100-$3,000, with larger pieces up to $10,000) and best of all, 100 percent of art sales go to the artists. Local Georgetown artist Annemarie Ryan will be one of the featured artists representing SHIM Art Network. Ryan will be exhibiting large and small works from her new series “Sweet Karma.” More information on the art fair can be found here.
‘Ease on Down the Road’ to See The Wiz at The National Theatre
The Broadway revival of the hit Tony Award-winning musical “The Wiz” is at The National Theatre through Sunday. Don’t miss the soul, gospel, rock and ‘70s funk-inspired musical that tells the tale of Dorothy’s adventure alongside The Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion. Party with Red Baraat at Wolf Trap
The band Red Baraat will be playing at The Barns at Wolf Trap Saturday. Merging genres of North Indian bhangra with hip-hop and jazz, the group is led by Sunny Jain, an American jazz ambassador and dhol player. See Piaf! The Show
The Strathmore is hosting a tribute to the legendary French singer Edith Piaf. “Piaf! The Show” tells the story of Piaf’s life through her timeless songs, scenography and never-before-seen photos. Don’t Miss ‘Leyendas de mi tierra (Stories from Home)’ at GALA Hispanic Theatre
For two days only—don’t miss untold Latino stories of the American Southwest. The show draws from personal histories and ancestral knowledge passed down through generations. See the environmental impact of the development of the atomic bomb on Latino communities, the true impact of the Bracero Program on Southwest communities, and more all told through the eyes of choreographer, writer, speaker and mother Yvonne Montoya. The National Building Museum Opens New Exhibit
The National Building Museum opens “Mini Memories: Souvenir Buildings from the David Weingarten Collection on Saturday. The exhibit will showcase a unique collection of 400 miniature buildings from around the world. Expect to see mini versions of a Town Hall in Poland, a monument to peace in Hiroshima, the Manhattan skyline and more. More on the exhibit can be found here.
Celebrate Halloween at The National Children’s Museum
Take the kids to the Follies Haunted House Workshop Saturday for a “thrillingly” good time. Make your own haunted house and listen to storytime. Costumes are highly encouraged and there are two workshop times at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.

The second annual Georgetown Heritage Ghost Cruise is this Friday from 4-8 p.m. Enjoy spine-tingling tales from the canal’s haunted history while sipping on adult beverages and noshing on appetizers.
