Last Chance: Nov. 9 Cultural Leadership Breakfast

Melanie Mathewes, executive director of the National Sporting Library & Museum, will speak at Georgetown Media Group’s next Cultural Leadership Breakfast, on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the George Town Club, 1530 Wisconsin Ave. NW.

Head of the Middleburg, Virginia, institution since 2013, Mathewes was formerly executive director of the Hermitage Museum & Gardens in Norfolk. She will discuss how the National Sporting Library & Museum has evolved since its founding in 1954 and highlight the current major exhibition, “The Horse in Ancient Greek Art,” which features vases, sculpture and coins from the 8th through the 4th centuries B.C.
