Irish Twist on ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
At Old Round House Theater, 12210 Bushey Drive in Silver Spring, Maryland, Quotidian Theatre Company presents an adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in which Shakespeare’s enchanted forest is transported to a Regency drawing room in rural Ireland. The production features Irish dancing, fiddle and harp, along with Yeats’s poetry. The Second City’s ‘Generation Gap’
Under a new partnership to produce original work especially for Kennedy Center audiences, the Second City’s “Generation Gap” will finally answer one of life’s biggest questions: when exactly were the good old days? From the Greatest Generation to the latest generation, the sketch show — recommended for mature audiences — follows three families on a satirical crash course. Performances are: Thursday, Aug. 9, and Friday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 11, at 6 and 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 12, at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $49 and $59. Truckeroo at the Bullpen
On Friday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 11 p.m., the Bullpen, 1201 Half St. SE, hosts Truckeroo, a free, family-friendly event showcasing the hottest food trucks in the D.C. area.
