Georgetown Pop-up’s Unique Gifts for Hearth and Heart

Do you believe in magic?

At the Collective Design Studio, magic is in the merch and in the store’s DNA. “We first saw the space two years ago,” explains Sue Henry, one of the founding partners and owner of Tulusa, a textile studio in Alexandria, Va. “And we were immediately drawn to the painted exterior and the magical architectural elements inside. We knew it would be the perfect place to house our vision of bringing distinctive artisanal goods –our passion projects — to a wider audience.”

Five golden rings and then some. A captivating array of stones and arrangements from Definition Studios.

Collective Design Studio’s extensive selection is anchored by Charix shoes (leather espadrilles and slides), Tulusa (hand-blocked textiles) and Definition Studios (hand-crafted leather and jewelry). All told, about two dozen locally made brands will find a home at CDS, ranging from bath and beauty products to food, fashion and accessories, home goods and plants.

Arched displays and hand-painted wallpaper are ideal for showcasing distinctive home accessories you won’t see coming and going. Table linens from Tulusa.

Henry says her partners and vendors are “thrilled to be in Georgetown. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and excited about what we’re doing.” She adds, “We are all small businesses with big dreams and this allows us to lift up our friends and boost their work during the holiday season.”

The Collective Design Studio is operating as a pop-up through December 31 but hopes to stay in Georgetown on a more permanent basis. (Landlords, are you listening?) It is located at 1259 Wisconsin Ave NW, @CollectiveDesignStudioDC.
