Weekend Roundup, Jan. 18 – 21

Another weekend is here! We hope you stay warm and cozy, enjoying all the indoor events available like the annual Washington Auto Show and performances at The Kennedy Center, Strathmore, and an exhibit opening at The National Building Museum.

At The Strathmore — Take In ‘Drum Tao 2024’
Enjoy a unique instrumental performance Saturday evening with the Japanese Wadaiko drums alongside flute and harp sounds. Drum Tao is best known for their dedication to Japanese musical craft with traditional style paired with fierce physicality. Their off-Broadway tour was sold out and they’re now on their first world tour in four years. More information on their event can be found here.

The Del McCoury Band to Perform at The Barns at Wolf Trap
The Del McCoury Band performs tonight through Sunday with their bluegrass tunes. McCoury — the “most awarded artist in Bluegrass history” — and his band have managed to maintain a legacy with viral videos and successful digital streams. More information on how to get tickets to their performances this weekend can be found here.

The Washington Auto Show Revs Up
The annual celebration of all-things-cars drives into the Convention Center Friday. More information on the show can be found here.

Building Stories Opens at The National Building Museum
An immersive exploration involving the world of architecture, construction, design, and more found in children’s books, “Building Stories” is a family-friendly extravaganza. The exhibit is geared toward multiple generations, with special attention paid to those in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Leonard Marcus, a leading expert on children’s literature, curated the exhibit, the first of its kind in the U.S. to call attention to the environment’s role as an important (yet typically unnoticed) part of children’s literature. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
