•Save the Date: The Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG) will host its signature Fall Fundraiser Cocktail Party celebrating The Georgetowner’s 70th anniversary on Friday, September 20, at Coolidge House at Quality Hill, 3425 Prospect Street NW.
Founded in October 1954, The Georgetowner Newspaper continues to tell the stories of Washington, D.C.’s oldest neighborhood and beyond. It has also expanded with a robust online presence — along with special events and its popular Cultural Leadership Breakfasts, now in its 10th year. The Citizens Association of Georgetown is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the longest-running civic association in the country, with roots dating back to 1876. CAG represents the interests of Georgetown residents with a mission to keep Georgetown beautiful, safe and connected. The nonprofit is entirely funded through generous donations, grants, and memberships.
Coolidge House serves as the base for the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation in Washington, D.C. Known as Quality Hill, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was originally built in 1797 by John Thomson Mason, nephew of George Mason. Among past owners of the property include John and Elizabeth Teakle, Dr. Charles Worthington, Albert Adsin Clemmons and Senator Claiborne Pell, famously known for the college financial aid “Pell Grant.”
