Mosaic Theater’s Reginald Douglas Is October Breakfast Speaker

On Thursday, Oct. 20, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., The Georgetowner’s Cultural Leadership Breakfast Series will welcome Reginald L. Douglas, artistic director of Mosaic Theater Company, to share his philosophy of theater-making and his plans for the company, a resident partner of the Atlas Performing Arts Center on H Street NE. Admission to the breakfast, held at the Tabard Inn, 1739 N St. NW, is $30, payable in advance via Eventbrite.

Previously artistic producer at Pittsburgh’s City Theatre and associate artistic director at D.C.’s Studio Theatre, Douglas has dedicated his career to creating theater that connects audiences of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. His appointment last year, in the midst of the pandemic, has ushered in a new chapter for Mosaic, founded in 2014.

At the breakfast, Douglas will also discuss what it means for Mosaic to produce Ifa Bayeza’s “The Till Trilogy” in D.C. Directed by Talvin Wilks and playing in rotating repertory from Oct. 4 to Nov. 20, the three-part work reflects on the life, death and legacy of Emmett Till, whose murder in 1955 remains one of the most pivotal moments in American history.

Since 2014, The Georgetowner’s monthly Cultural Leadership Breakfast Series has presented 44 insider talks by heads of area museums, theater and dance companies, performing arts venues and other arts organizations.
