2023 Cultural Power Breakfast Now at Four Seasons! Meet New Corcoran Director Lauren Onkey, March 23

We have a new name and location for our cultural leadership breakfast series. Now at the Four Seasons Hotel, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave. NW we’ll be hosting our Cultural Power Breakfasts. Our first featured speaker this spring will be Dr. Lauren Onkey, director of George Washington University’s Corcoran School of the Arts & Design. Admission to the Thursday, March 23, event is $35, payable in advance via Eventbrite.

Previously vice president of education and public programming at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland and, most recently, senior director at NPR Music, Dr. Onkey joined George Washington University as director of the Corcoran School and professor of music in July of 2021. The former Corcoran Gallery of Art’s college of art and its landmark Flagg Building became part of GWU in 2014.

At the breakfast, after describing how the Corcoran School functions as an incubator for a rising generation of artists, designers and scholars, Dr. Onkey will share the new festival format for NEXT, the annual student showcase coming up in April.

Since 2014, The Georgetowner’s monthly Cultural Leadership Breakfast Series has presented 47 insider talks by heads of area museums, theater and dance companies, performing arts venues and other arts organizations.

On March 23, doors open at 8 a.m. for a buffet breakfast; the program runs from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. To purchase tickets, click HERE
